About the conference
SNSUS is organizing the 8th Nordic Conference on Prevalence, Prevention, Treatment and Responsible Gaming in Reykjavík in June (13-15th) 2011. The Nordic conference is held every two years and was last in Helsinki 2009.
The objective of the conference is to extend our knowledge on gambling and gaming within the Nordic countries. Specifically, we are interested in exploring the status of problem gambling prevalence, prevention activities and different treatment forms within the Nordic countries, as elsewhere in Europe or North-America. Also we are interested in responsible gaming projects conducted by the Nordic gaming companies.
The keynote speakers are professors David Hodgins and Jeffrey Derevensky. In addition we will be hearing from leading Nordic researchers and experts on problem gambling as well as regulators and representatives of gaming companies.
Preceding the conference there will be a Preconference Workshop organized by SNSUS on treatment and the use of self-help manuals, to be presented by Professor David Hodgins (Department of Clinical Psychology, University of Calgary, Canada).
