An invitation to Reykjavík
for the EABCT 2011 Congress
|
On behalf of the Icelandic Association for Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies, it is my great pleasure to invite you to atttend the 41st Annual EABCT in Iceland. We have prepared an exciting scientific programme that will take place in Harpa, our brand new multi-venue performing arts and conference center situated by Reykjavík harbour.
We are proud to host an EABCT congress for the first time in Iceland; the home of the Sagas that were written on calfskin in the 12th and 13th century. The Sagas’ content should satisfy both radical and ACT behaviourists and cognitive behaviour and Schema therapists. In the Sagas one finds short precise descriptions, almost telegraphic in form of current intervention issues. There is no direct description of emotions, but all the same, one can read between the lines how the persons felt.
We have a great congress in store for you. The scientific programme has been prepared in consultation with an international panel of experts. The main theme of the congress will be PREVENTION. The programme will cover issues of prevention in cognitive and behaviour theories and therapies. The presenters, who are leaders in their fields will be addressing diverse topics such as prevention and early intervention in emotional disorders, treatment effectiveness and development, mindfulness and emotion regulation, along with theoretical updates in the field. The programmme includes plenary sessions, keynote addresses, roundtable discussions, panel debates, symposia, open papers and poster sessions. Pre-congress workshops are skill-based workshops that are led by internationally renowned leaders in their fields and cover a range of CBT applications at introductory, intermediate and advanced levels of training. Along with the ambitious scientific programme EABCT 2011 offers a full social programme to help attendees enjoy the best of Reykjavík and its surrounding areas.
Please visit the Congress website www.eabct2011.org for full details of the programme and do remember to subscribe to our EABCT 2011 newsletter to receive e-mail updates regarding the Congress. Hopefully you will be inspired to submit your work for presentation and contribute to making the EABCT 2011 in Reykjavík an energetic and inspiring congress.
