Welcome
Dear colleagues,
It is a pleasure to welcome you to Iceland for the
28th Annual Meeting of the Scandinavian Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy, which will be held in Reykjavik, August 18th-21st 2011.
We are looking forward to an enjoyable and productive meeting, where attempts have been made to cover several of the most relevant aspects of infectious diseases and clinical microbiology. The scientific program provides a broad range of topics, representing both basic and clinical science, as well as policy issues within the field of infectious diseases. True to the tradition of previous SSAC meetings we have made efforts to facilitate interaction and networking among colleagues, by providing ample time for poster discussions and social events.
The venue is Hilton Reykjavík – Nordia Hotel, conveniently located close to the beautiful outdoor area of Laugardalur, boasting the most popular swimming pool in Reykjavik, and yet being within walking distance from the old city center.
Young scientists are especially encouraged to present their work and travel grants will be available for young colleagues who present their scientific research. The abstract submission site will open on March 1st, 2011. In addition to the scientific program you will have the opportunity to explore some of the renowned natural attractions of Iceland, including hot springs, glaciers, waterfalls and recent lavafields!
On behalf of the organising committee I cordially invite you to attend the 28th SSAC in Reykjavik, 2011.

Magnus Gottfredsson, Meeting President
